Pauline Richarz Mohnke, 98, entered into eternal life on December 24th, 2021 in Kerrville, Texas. She was born on December 9th, 1923 in Houston, Texas. Polly was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 89 years. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Trinity.
Polly attended Trinity Lutheran School and then graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1942. She attended business school and was employed as a bookkeeper for the Southern Pacific Railroad and Houston Light and Power. During WWII, Polly was a Red Cross volunteer at various hospitals around Houston. She was a charter member of the Houston Ladies Tennis Association and the Houston Boy and Girl Builders. Polly took up painting later in life and was a very prolific painter. She was a faithful servant at church and Trinity Lutheran School. Driven by her good sense of humor and joy for life, Polly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at the Nutty Farms in Tomball.
Polly moved to Boerne, Texas in 2010 to be closer to 3 of her children and grandchildren. She joined Messiah Lutheran Church of Boerne, Texas in 2013.
Preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Max E. Mohnke, sister Vivian Holeman, and brother “Buddy” H.E. Richarz. Polly is survived by her 5 children, Rodney, Steve, Melvin, Kenneth, and Kathleen; her 10 grandchildren; and her 11 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Pauline will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77008. Funeral service is scheduled Thursday, January 6, 2022, 12:00 Noon at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Ave., Houston, TX 77007. Committal service will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
