

Pollye Dabbs Collins was born in Taylor, TX on November 24, 1939 to Albert and Jimmie Nelson Dabbs. She was welcomed into heaven by the Lord and many beloved family members on February 24, 2017. By the age of ten years old, both of Pollye’s parents had died, and an aunt and her husband, Elise and Miles Jordan, brought her to Houston and reared her. Pollye attended Wheatley High School and Texas Southern University where she met Daymon Cobbs Sr. They married and moved to Corpus Christi and were the parents of two sons, Daymon Jr. and Dwayne Cobbs. That marriage ended in divorce and Pollye moved back to Houston. Later she married Bennie Collins Jr. and they had two sons, Ronald and Bennie III Collins. Pollye worked for a short time at Texas Southern and then began a long career at Tenneco from which she retired. Mother Pollye A. Collins joined Faith Temple COGIC under the leadership of the late Bishop T.C. Perry in the year of 1990. Under his administration she worked as the assistant financial officer she was also a part of the Pastor Aide Department until the Lord call Bishop T.C. Perry home. In October 2002, she became under the leadership of Pastor S.C. Jefferson where she served as Administrative Secretary and Financial Secretary. She was also the YPWW President until 2014. Mother Pollye faithfully committed to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and took on the role as a teacher of YPWW Department. She continued to work faithfully in the Church in whatever area was needed. Pollye was proceeded in death by both sets of parents, and both spouses, her son Daymon Jr. and her brother Byron. She is survived by her sons Dwayne (Irina) Cobbs, Ronald (Regina) Collins and Bennie Collins III, grandchildren’s Chai-wai Smith, Alexander Brunner, Derrick Cobbs, Bennicia Collins, great grandson Mason Dwayne Hamilton, aunt Virgie V. Clue, cousins Bettye White and Darla Broden, step children’s Alonzo Robinson, Joyce Williams, Royce Collins and Jackie Dixon along with many other relatives, neighbors and friends. The Family would like to thank Jackie Dixon, Joyce Williams, Eddie Ray Jimerson, Paulette Fuller and the entire Collins, Miller, Jimerson families for your love, support, care and everything that you have done for our mother.
