Raquel Gonzalez, a faith filled woman whose gentle strength and unwavering devotion touched the lives of all who knew her, entered into eternal rest on July 28, 2026 at the age of 90. Raquel’s life was a testament to service, compassion, and steadfast belief—values she carried into every role she embraced.
Raquel taught at Resurrection Catholic School for 35 years and was an integral part of Resurrection Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharist Minister and was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Catholic Daughters. She also served as RCIA Director at Our Lady of Fatima.
Born with a heart for learning and a gift for guiding others, Raquel dedicated her life to education. As an educator and mentor, she shaped countless minds and inspired generations. Her students remember her not only for her wisdom, but for the kindness, patience, and encouragement she offered so freely.
In 1955, Raquel married Jesus Gonzalez, and together they built a beautiful family grounded in faith, unity, and resilience. Their marriage endured until Jesus’s passing in December 2004. Together, they raised eight children who were the pride of their lives:
Hermina Mancha (d) and Henry Mancha (d); Mary Esther Martinez (d); Mary Jesse Cardenas (d) (Natividad Cardenas); Geraldine Gonzalez; Richard Gonzalez (Roseann); Cecilia Salas (Maximino (Max) Salas); Rachel Gonzalez; Roland Gonzalez (Diane Gonzalez).
Raquel and Jesus were blessed with 25 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, each one a cherished gift. Raquel poured her love into her family, celebrating their accomplishments, guiding them through challenges, and praying for them daily. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and faith—a gathering place where traditions were honored and memories made.
Those who knew Raquel will remember her devotion to God, and her unwavering belief in the goodness of people. Raquel lived her faith openly and humbly, offering comfort, wisdom, and hope to anyone who needed it. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched—through her family, her students, her church community, and all who were blessed to know her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family for generations to come.
May she rest in God’s eternal peace.
