Viva Zacatecas!

Rafael Davila, age 59, of Houston, Texas passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020. Rafael was born November 26, 1960.

Rafael Davila, lovingly referred to as “Rafa,” and “Zacatecas,” was born and raised in Zacatecas Mexico on November 26, 1960. He departed this earth on September 11, 2020 and was the husband of Eloise Davila (Houston) and the son of Natividad and Requel Davila (currently of Zacatecas Mexico). Eloise and Rafael met at a very young age and fell in love. They shared their lives together for over 35-years, bought their first home, and enjoyed their horses and numerous pets. They spent a lot of time at the barn with their horses and friends, and always made time to gather with friends and family at their favorite restaurants including Doneraki’s on Fulton, Kim Son in downtown Houston, Olive Garden, and Spanish Flowers. He was always the life of the party and loved to entertain his family with mariachis and DJs at major family events.

Rafael took Eloise’s nephew, Eric Gonzales, under his wing when he was a child. He taught him how to drive, bought him his first car, and ingrained the importance of a strong work ethic. They worked side-by-side for decades and Eric, passionately refers to Raphael as “dad.” Eric will continue to support Eloise in operating Ralph’s successful masonry business working over twenty years with David Weekley Homes, where he received “Best Masonry and Stone Contractor” on January 13, 2015. Rafael was the best of the best and took pride in his work.

Previously, Rafael worked for KB Homes, Flair Construction, Pine Oak Builders, and Goette Custom Construction, to name a few. He was known for helping the less fortunate and was very kind and generous.

Rafael leaves behind his wife, Eloise, son Eric Gonzales (Patricia), parents, and siblings:

Salvador (Armida), Juan (Maria), Magdaleno (Guadalupe), Maribel, Ernesto (Margarita), Roberto (Bertha) Reina, Elida, Porfirio, Federico (Patricia)

Rafael was a good man with a beautiful heart. He made so many friends and was loved by his wife, family and son, Eric. He loved his horses, animals and children. His work ethic was strong and he shared his knowledge and experience with those he took under his wing. He helped so many get their lives in order. He was always the life of the party and loved family gatherings.

I wish I had gotten to know you better Rafa, but there was a language barrier between us. I am learning so many wonderful things about you. You were truly loved. Rest In Peace.
