Ray Allen Martin, 81 of Groveton, Texas passed away at his home on Monday, March 4, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born March 5, 1938 in Urania, Louisiana. He was a maintenance mechanic for Goodyear Chemical Company, he loved fishing, singing, preaching and being with his family. He served in the United States Army for 7 years; was a licensed minister a member of the Cleveland Lions Club and an associate pastor at Central Baptist Church in Cleveland; volunteered at Kingwood Hospital and helped build ramps for senior homes; he also was a member of Groveton Lions Club and attended Shady Grove First Baptist Church and was a deacon in Crockett.
Ray is survived by his wife Mary Beadles Martin of over 60 years and sister, Hazel Gore; children, Stephen Ray Martin and wife, Bobbie; Cecil Mark Martin and wife, Melissa and Elisabeth Rogers; grandchildren; Stephen Martin, II and wife, Crystal; Kristina Martin Lewing and husband, Billy; Cecil Mark Martin, Jr and wife, Kayla; Samuel Martin, Stephanie Wilson Halbert and husband, Justin; Bethany Rogers and Julianna Rogers; 18 great grandchildren, Naomi, Logan, Abigail, Gracie, and Michelle; Steven, Jordan, Kaleb, Billy, Jr., and Heaven; Matthew and Robert Halbert, Sam Jr., Noah, Skiler and Dakota Martin along with Aurora Martin and Roman Rogers-Lopez; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Nodie Ruth Martin; grandson, Seth Wilson, sister, Patsy Morris, aunt, Hazel Scott, nephews, David Morris and Terry Gore and nieces, Becky and Dawn Bielowos.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Friday, March 8, 2019 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Lowrey officiating with burial following at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Cemetery at 2:00pm. Visitation will be Thursday evening March 7, 2019 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen R. Martin, II, Roger Hendry, Rick Diaz, Rick Maness, Robert Lopez and Danny Faust with honorary pallbearers William Moore, Mary Dian Moore and Alisa Moore.
