Richard is survived by his wife Rosann, daughter in-law Irina, granddaughters Ilana and Anita, father and mother in-law Charles and Pat Herrin, sister in-law Roxann Nolte and her husband Rodney. Richard’s surviving siblings are Leroy and wife Brenda, Charles, Dennis and wife Heidi. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, along with many friends.
Richard spent his early years growing up in the farming community of Arlington Heights Illinois. In 1958 Richard’s father passed away. In 1959 Richard’s mother moved the family, Richard, his 3 brothers and his sister to Houston, Texas. Where he attended Lamar High School, Texas Southern University and furthered his career training with courses provided by his employers.
Richard possessed the drive to be an achiever, from beginning as a newspaper boy raising to the ranks of assistant distributer. Working at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor becoming the store manager. In 1969 Richard went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad – Union Pacific where he worked for 47.5 years, beginning as a crew member traveling and working on the tracks to being a maintainer at the Englewood yard servicing the computer operation of the tracks.
Richard had a passion for bowling, traveling to tournaments around the united states. His prize accomplishments from his bowling career was the meeting of his wife Rosann and being presented with the 300 ring achieved from bowling a perfect 300 score.
Richard is preceded in death by his Parents Elmer and Eleanor, sister and brother in-law Linda and Johnnie Melia, niece Stephanie Melia, sister in-law Marla Behrens, step-son Adam Naddak
