

Robert Carter Jr., known to his friends as “King Carter,” 78, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Leland, Mississippi, to the late Bully and Kattie Carter (née Callion), who preceded him in death.. Robert grew up with strong family values and an unyielding work ethic that would define his life.
Robert is survived by his devoted partner, Temperest Douglas, whose companionship brought joy and comfort to his later years. He leaves behind his children: Latoya Carter (her wife Latasha Coleman), Robert Williams, James Carter, Royce Carter, Reginald Carter, and Dr. Robert Carter III (his wife Dr. Kirti Carter), each a testament to his guidance and love. He embraced Ty’Meshia Guidry and Ja’lisa Marshall as his own, nurturing them with the same warmth and dedication that defined his character.
As a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, Robert's legacy of love, strength, and integrity lives on through them. His grandchildren remember him as a source of wisdom and light, always willing to share stories, offer advice, and support their dreams with unwavering belief. His great-grandchildren will grow up hearing tales of his kindness, resilience, and the powerful impact he left on those who knew him. Robert is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Nathan Carter, MC Carter, Larry Carter, Claira Walker, and Angeline Carter. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many other beloved family members and friends who will dearly miss his presence.
Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, Robert was a pillar of his community. His determination and dedication were evident in every task he undertook, inspiring those around him to strive for excellence. He approached life with optimism and a heart full of kindness, always willing to lend a hand or share what he had with others. His community remembers him as a man of his word, someone who could always be counted on in times of need. Robert’s life was a testament to resilience, family, and faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known him.
A visitation for Robert will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A committal service will occur Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
