
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert L. Flores passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on June 12, 2020 in Houston,Texas. Robert spent his last days at home surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 45 years, Carmen and 4 children, Dinorah and her husband Edgar Delgado, Robert Jr, Edgar and his wife Jenny, and Lindsey, all of Houston,Texas. He was also blessed with and survived by 6 grandchildren. Daniel Flores Soto III, Robert III and Alyssa Flores, Edgar Mathew Flores and Endy and Jayden Urbina.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Federico Flores and Magdalena Lopez of Gonzales Texas and his brother Fred Lopez Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Robert was born in Gonzales,Texas on February 14, 1948. He and his brother were two peas in a pod, inseparable. He was born and raised Catholic and was in the church choir growing up. He loved music and singing. Growing up he worked and helped in the family business at the Gonzales Food Market. Robert was a Vietnam War Veteran, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Marksman 1st Class gunner. He later married the love of his life Carmen in 1974.
He loved spending time with his family barbecuing, fishing, working on his yard and traveling. He would spend time with his children teaching them to ride bikes and play catch and loved spending time at the beach teaching his family to fish! Throughout the years he loved working on home projects and making sure his home was a welcoming place for all his family to come visit and be together. His family was what was most important to him and he spent his life making sure they all knew how much they meant to him. He had a heart of gold, infectious smile, and great sense of humor. He was an amazing father that instilled good morals and values in his children. Robert was a man of great faith, strength, and integrity.
Robert leaves behind a great legacy of wonderful memories and never ending teachable moments. He will be greatly missed as a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
