Robert Arlan Parker, affectionately known as ‘Pops’, passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 82. A resident of Shenandoah, Texas, was born on October 3, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to William and Marvalene Parker.
Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who personified strength and true grit. He approached life with a can-do spirit and a generous heart. If someone needed help, he was the man who gave them the shirt off his back and provided a roof over their heads. Through his strength, kindness, and willingness to step up for others, he set a lasting example of what a good man should be and how to conduct oneself.
Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. As a member of an elite forward operations platoon, he carried out some of the war’s most harrowing missions. His service reflected the courage and determination that those who knew him recognized throughout his life.
Above all, Bob loved his family. He leaves them with cherished memories and an enduring example of resilience, generosity, and love.
He is survived by his daughters, Tamara Onofrio and her husband, Greg, and Courtney Ewer and her husband, David. Grandchildren, Sophia Hunnicutt, Abby Onofrio, Alexis Abke, Cali Maxwell, Asa Ewer, Avery Ewer, Charli Ewer, Austen Parker and Aerelle Taylor along with many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Chad Parker, his beloved wife Thelma Parker, and his son, Chris Parker.
A funeral service will be held on October 13th at 1pm at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. He will be laid to rest with military honors.
Bob will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever part of the family he helped shape.
