Born on June 21, 1949, Robert lived a life of honor, dedication, and deep love for his family. He married his childhood sweetheart, Isabelle Duron Saenz, in April of 1969, with whom he shared a beautiful life built on partnership, faith, and unwavering commitment for 56 years.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Robert served honorably in the United States Army, Infantry Company, and was awarded the Air Medal and two bronze stars. His bravery and service to his country were lasting sources of pride and respect. Robert proudly worked at Baker Hughes for 47 years, where he worked his way up to Global Quality Management while traveling internationally. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and quiet leadership. His professional dedication was matched only by the love and care he poured into his family life.
Robert was an incredible father. He coached his son, Richard, starting in T-ball through high school and continued to support him through his college football days and into his professional career—always in the stands, always cheering. With his daughter, Teresa, Robert embraced every opportunity to support her drill team endeavors, even stepping into the role of team “mom” and helping with events and prop building. No matter the occasion, Robert was always on the sidelines, offering encouragement, support, and unconditional love.
He loved spending time with Isabelle, their children, and especially his grandchildren. Whether attending their sports games or dance performances, bird watching in the yard, or watching his favorite team, the Houston Astros, Robert cherished every moment spent with his family. He was a quiet yet constant presence—always reliable, always loving, always putting family first.
Robert is survived by his wife Isabelle of Richmond; his son Richard and daughter-in-law, Gresha of Houston; his daughter Teresa and son-in-law Carlos Marquez de la Plata of Plano; his mother Virginia Gonzales of Richmond; and his grandchildren Rich, Ben, Cooper, and Maya. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Marie Saenz, and his father, Richard P. Saenz.
Robert will be remembered for his integrity, humility, generous spirit, and the deep, abiding love he had for his family. His legacy of service, devotion, and quiet strength will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
