Robert “Bob” E. Starns, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 19, 2018.
Bob was born on November 18, 1938 in Hammond, LA to Joseph and Virdie Starns. He attended Southeastern High School in Hammond, and later earned his G.E.D. Bob then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as an Aircraft Mechanic until he was honorably discharged at the end of his four years as a Senior Airman. While in the Air Force, Bob met and married Beth Murr on February 9, 1962 and was married to Beth for 15 years. Bob and Beth adopted their daughter, Anita (Delynn) on January 10, 1970. Throughout his career, Bob worked as a mechanic and machinist. Bob met and married “the love of his life,” Vivian Nichols in October of 1978. Bob and Vivian lived happily together for 32 years in Savannah, GA and Burleson, TX until Vivian’s passing in 2010. Bob moved to Houston in 2012 to be closer to his daughter, Julie, who became his primary caregiver. Bob lived on his own a few miles from Julie and Joe until it became necessary to have a live in caregiver. Bob fought to stay with us until he succumbed to complications from an infection. Bob passed peacefully at home under hospice care.
