

Roberta Ann Duhart was born on December 12, 1936 to Charlie and Olivia Lands in Wharton, Texas. Roberta was one of eight children. At a young age Roberta moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to live with her Aunt Frankie and Uncle John who were without children. Roberta attended Solomon Cole school in Corpus Christi, Texas. Roberta met and married Thomas J Duhart, Sr. The Two were married on January 26, 1953. A union that lasted for twenty-four years, until the untimely death of Thomas in 1977. The couple has five children from their union two boys and two girls.
Roberta was a dedicated and hard-working woman who worked for Luby’s cafeteria for 38 years as the Salad Room Supervisor. She truly enjoyed her job making beautiful and unique salads that the patrons enjoyed viewing and eating. Some of her award-winning salad recipes are still available on the menu today.
Roberta retired from Luby’s Cafeteria at age 59. She was a member of Saint John Baptist Church for many years.
In 2017 Roberta moved from Corpus Christi, Texas to Houston, Texas to live with her son Thomas J. Duhart, Jr. and his wife Rhonda. On March 6, Roberta was peacefully called to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her family.
Roberta was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. Three great grandchildren affectionately called her GG.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Olivia Lands, her husband Thomas J Duhart, Sr. her children Beverly Childress and John Duhart, Sr. Five brothers L.H. Hubbard, Charlie Lands, Jr. Alonzo Lands, R.L. Lands and Williams Lands and two sisters Maggie Mae miles and Ernestine Miller.
She leaves cherished memories of one son Thomas J Duhart, Jr. (Rhonda), two Daughters Glenda Shaw (Terry), Kacheryl Powell (Michael) and a son-in-law Leonard Childress, and also a daughter-in-law Michelle Duhart, nine grandchildren Ashley Powell, Kara Hoover, Jamie Childress, Loren Childress, Randi Childress, Nia Abdallah-Duhart, Danielle Anglin, John Duhart, Jr., and Marcus Duhart. She also leaves three great-grandchildren Lela Brinkley, Madison Greenhouse, and Fiona Hoover. Also including a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
