Rodney James Schlechte was born on August 16, 1946 in Brenham, Texas. After graduating from Austin High School in Houston in 1964, he attended Blinn Junior College for two years before joining the Navy where he served from 1967 to 1971.
After leaving the Navy, he worked for Household Finance and then for Phillips Petroleum where he started as an electrician and worked his way up to supervisor. He retired in 2003.
Rodney married his loving wife, Diane in 1976. He was a believer in the Lord, Jesus Christ, and loved his church. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Rodney was always ready to lend a hand whenever needed.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley & Ella Mae Schlechte.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Micah and his spouse, Keith Haynes; son, Robert Schima and his wife, Lindsay; grandsons, Duke and Jack Schima; brother-in-law, John Brister and his wife, Kathy; along with numerous extended family members and countless friends. He will be missed by all.
