Ronald Parks Emmott was born on June 9, 1954 in Houston, Texas. At 67 years of age, he passed away to be with the Lord on December 27, 2021. He was a fourth generation Houstonian, his Emmott great-grandparents arriving in Texas from England in 1887. Ancestors on his mother’s side came to Texas from South Carolina in 1839. He loved his family’s history.
Ron was predeceased by his father, Robert C. Emmott. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Lee Woodward Emmott and his son Ronald Parks Emmott, Jr and Parker’s sister Gracie Mc Andrew. He is also survived by his brother Robert C. Emmott, Jr. and wife Toni; his niece Christine R. E. Novak and husband Greg; niece Virginia L. Emmott and great niece Elizabeth A. Novak.
Ron was a baptized member of Fairbanks Baptist Church, regularly attending Sunday services with his dog Sandy. They would find their seat, and Sandy would go under the pew and reverently sleep through the service.
A 1972 graduate of Cy-Fair Senior High School, he then attended Blinn Junior College. After school, he began work as a welder. Later, he worked in the bookbinding business, following in the footsteps of his father.
Since his childhood, Ron was inquisitive of all things mechanical, breaking down clocks, go-carts, and power tools to learn how they worked. His dad, Robert, often taught alongside him on his Volkswagen and hotrod. Until his last years, he was often sought out to repair cars, lawn equipment, generators and all manner of other mechanical items.
Ron grew up surrounded by his Emmott cousins, aunts and uncles who he loved very much. He looked forward every year to the Emmott Family Reunion. He enjoyed the company of friends Freddie and Rooster who were also a great help to him. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes. Though he suffered injuries as a young man, he did not let that stop him from an active life. He was very proud of his son, Ronald Parks Emmott, Jr. and Parker’s sister, Gracie McAndrew, enjoying attending their football and soccer games.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Ronald’s name may be made to the Fairbanks Baptist Church Building Fund, 6122 Fairbanks N. Houston, Houston, Texas 77040.
