Ronald Arthur Ohsfeldt

Ronald Arthur Ohsfeldt passed on to be with his wife and his Lord on the 3rd day of April 2012.

Born to Ada Gladys Morris and Gustav Edward Ohsfeldt on March 1, 1923, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Annett McInnis Ohsfeldt, his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Father to five children, Ronald was preceded in death by his oldest son, Ronald Arthur Ohsfeldt, Jr. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Sharon Ohsfeldt, Germantown, TN, son, James Ohsfeldt and wife, Barbara, of Moore, OK, daughter, Susan Ohsfeldt and husband, Jeff Dodd, of Houston, TX, daughter, Becky McKay and husband, Kenneth, of Carrollton, TX, and son, Robert Ohsfeldt and wife, Peggy, of Magnolia, TX, as well as 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, niece, Peggy-jean Bond, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

Ronald graduated Reagan High School in 1940. He and Mildred were married on October 29, 1942. Together they were founding members of the Spring Branch Church of the Nazarene here in Houston, TX in 1959. Ronald graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. in Accounting and after attending the Bates College of Law, passed the Bar Exam on May 15, 1958. Ronald worked for the Internal Revenue Service as an attorney from 1958 to 1978, attaining the position of Appellate Conferee. He continued to practice tax law, probate and wills until 2003.

Ronald participated in many mission trips for the Nazarene church which included trips to Paupa New Guinea, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Swaziland, South Africa and Mexico among others. He also served his country in the US Army with for two years during WWII, receiving the bronze star, and as an Army Reservist for three years during the Korean Conflict. His hobbies included cooking and photography.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Monday, the 9th of April from seven until nine o’clock in the evening at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Charles Stuart in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, the 10th of April at ten o’clock in the morning. Graveside services and interment will follow in Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine in Houston.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association.

So sorry for your loss. Ronald will be remembered for a long, long time. He was a real trooper. I'm sure he is enjoying being with Mildred and his brothers and sisters and son and most of all being with Jesus. May happy memories comfort you at this sad time. Love to you all. Grace Laird
