Ronald Earl Swanson

Colonel Ronald Earl Swanson, United States Air Force (Retired) was born to William (Bill) and Iona Swanson November 21, 1932 in Blue Island, IL. He was one of 8 children. He joined the love of his life, Janice, in heaven, on December 4, 2020 at the age of 88. He resided at the Arbor House in Norman, Ok. Where he was treated with the utmost respect he deserved.

Ron graduated from Thornton Township High School in Harvey IL. in 1951 and joined the Air Force. He attended George Washington University where he received his Masters Degree in business administration

He married Janice Hill in 1953. They were married for 54 yrs at the time of her passing in 2007..

Colonel Swanson proudly served 33 yrs in the US Air Force as a Navigator and commander with tours in Germany and Vietnam and many other locations before he retired.

He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, camping and especially the last few years doing this often with his son Bill. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to him and he treasured time spent with them in person or video chats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janice Lee in (2005) and son David in (1980). Those left to remember him with love include son, Bill (Sandi) Swanson, Daughter, Marian Ishcomer, Grandchildren, Brandie (Scotty) Ishcomer Barrett and children, Iris and Titus. LeAnn (Bobbi) Ishcomer, Robert Ishcomer, Jen Martin Swanson, children, Abby, Christian, RJ, Ashlynn. Jimi (Tina Kortje) Robinson, daughter Isabella and Kristy Swanson.

This year was very difficult not being able to do things with Ron that we loved doing, while quarantined. We appreciate all the porch visits and care that Arbor house showed him and us during this difficult time.
