Ronnie was the first baby born into Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, now First Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age and served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, Chairman of the Deacon Board, and Trustee. His love for First Mac extended far beyond the scope of his auxiliary positions. You could often find Deacon Ronnie driving the church van, being a plumber, carpenter, handyman, landscaper, visiting & administering the Lord’s Supper to the sick and shut-in, or meeting the needs of the church and its members in any capacity.
Ronnie attended school at J.C. McDade Elementary, Francis Scott Key Middle, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for Engineering Professions in 1980. He was a member of the Gents as well as the Photography Club. It was in Photography Club where his love for capturing precious memories began. He was the photographer for various family events, weddings, church functions, birthday parties, and so much more.
It was during their senior year of High School that he met D’Andrea L. Davis. Their first date was to the movie theater on March 15, 1980. They were joined in Holy matrimony on June 25, 1983. To this union three beautiful children were born: Ronnie William II, Anthony D’Wayne, and Yalanda Cecille. They affectionately referred to him as “DEDDY”.
Ronnie worked hard to provide for his family over the years as a Computer Operator for the following companies: Phillips 66, Systemps, BP America, Alternative Resource Corporation (ARC), Cooper Cameron Corporation, American General, and BMC Software. Ronnie had a profound passion for photography, deer hunting, and fishing. He looked forward to the annual opening season of deer hunting on his family’s property in Homer, LA. He also enjoyed accompanying his parents on countless fishing trips. He was a tireless supporter of any and all extra-curricular activities his children were involved in be it church or school related.
On November 1, 2019, Deacon Ronnie fell ill and was primarily cared for daily by his loving son, Anthony, until his untimely departure. During the afternoon hours of Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at 3:48 p.m., Deacon Ronnie William Buggs transitioned from Earthly Labor to Heavenly Reward surrounded by his wife of 41 years and their three children.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents Judge and Jerlene Buggs, paternal grandparents John Crawford Buggs Sr. and Tabitha (Turner) Buggs, and maternal grandparents, Van and Mary Ella (Cheatom) Spivey.
A lifetime of memories of Ronnie will be cherished by: his wife of 41 years; D’Andrea, three children; Ronnie William II, Anthony "Tony" D’Wayne, and Yalanda Cecille, one Godson; Tyler Malik Miller, siblings Carlotta Nicholas (Albert Jr.) and Donald Buggs (Tashi Hickman), aunts Arnell Phillips (Charlie) and Juanita Martin; brother-in-law Elgin Davis (Synetha), sister-in-law Maria Jamison, nephews Cal Holmes (Lerin), Keith Holmes, Elgin Davis Jr., and Albert Nicholas III (Stephany Lopez), nieces Darilyn Davis, Elginette Powell (Ortis Sr.), Krystal Buggs, and Lillian Nicholas, a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, family, friends, church family, neighbors, and unofficial adopted children who affectionately call him “Deddy Buggs” or “Poppy”.
