

On August 15, 1946, Roosevelt Jones was born in Cuthbert, Georgia to Johnny B Jones, Sr. and Mattie Bell-Lovely Jones. He attended Henderson High School and moved to Tampa, Fl at the young age of 16 where he met and married Yvonne Potts-Jones. Together they raised and loved 5 daughters. Roosevelt was a dedicated volunteer for “Bridging for Tomorrow” where he always cared about others in the community where he served. Roosevelt was a man of many talents.
However, the construction industry was his professional calling. He worked for more than 40 years and mentored many workers and employees. Roosevelt moved to Houston TX, where he met and married Shirley Mae Smith Jones and helped to raise and love seven children. He enjoyed playing dominos, cards, and socializing with family and friends. Roosevelt also loved the Lord and was a faithful servant. He left a legacy of faith, kindness, and hard work that his loved ones will cherish and honor eternally. His favorite bible verse was Luke:15 23-24, The Prodigal Son.
Roosevelt is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Mae Jones, daughters, Natasha D. Jones and Carolyn Lovings, ex-wife, Yvonne Potts-Jones, both parents, brothers, Leroy Jones, Willie Jones, and Eddie B. Jones Sr., and sister, Mary Borders.
Roosevelt leaves behind to cherish his memories: daughters, Tajuana Potts-Ridley (Jimmy) of Houston, Jenee Jones-Jackson (Ivan) of Harker Heights, TX, Tonya (aka Tarnitha) Jones of Tampa, Rayvenia Jones of Tampa, Norma Williams (Marcus) of Houston, Gregory Belleny (Delisa) of Garden Ridge, TX, Shirley Smith of Houston, Gary Clark (Maria) of Katy, David Clark of Houston, Marvin Clark of Houston. He also leaves; his brothers, Johnny B. Jones of Tampa, Robert L. Jones of Tampa, Jimmy L. Jones of Tampa, Homer L. Jones of Tampa, and Jessie Tarver (Betty) of Tampa. He leaves his sisters; Ceola Jones of New Orleans, Minnie Jones Gaither of San Angelo, Betty Smith of Cuthbert, Diane Jones of Tampa. Roosevelt leaves behind as his legacy 31 Grandchildren, 50 Great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends too many to mention but all of whom were recognized as his favorite.
