Rory was born on February 25, 1988 to Rory Gene Ward, Sr., and Rowena Mavis Ward in Washington, D.C.
After relocation to Houston, Texas with his family as an infant, he attended elementary through high school in the Cypress-Fairbanks School District. During this period of his life, Rory excelled in football. Rory celebrated his graduation from Cy-Ridge High School in May 2006.
Eager to enter the workforce, Rory began working at age 16 as a bagger at Kroger grocery stores. He remained with the company for a few years and ended his time there as a clerk. Rory also held a variety of service jobs throughout his short time here. Rory was a gifted artist and loved drawing and sketching. He was particularly fond of drawing sketches of wildlife. The artwork he created and left behind is a cherished reminder of Rory's spirit and talents.
Rory accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized on February 12, 1995 at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. While there, he was an active member of the Boy Scouts, Sunday school and Wednesday Night Bible Study.
Rory was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, (Randall and Anna Thomas) and paternal grandparent, (Dee and Diria Smith). He is survived by his mother, Rowena Ward (Alvin Ferguson); father Rory Ward, Sr. (Catherine Ward); brother, Ramsey Ward; step grandmother, Clarice Ward; godmother, Karen Turner Preston and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Cherished son, brother, artist and community member, Rory will be sorely missed by those who loved him and knew him best. In keeping with his generous spirit, Rory was an organ donor. His final gift to this world was saving the lives of three (3) others.
