

Rosalie Pizzitola D’Amico, the family matriarch, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 31, 2018 at the age of 92. Rosalie was born May 8, 1926 in Houston, Texas to Charles E. Pizzitola and Pauline Calma Pizzitola. She was preceded in death by her husband Nash F. D’Amico; her sister Della Petronella; brothers Vincent Consoli and Anthony Pizzitola.
She is survived by her daughter Paula Jean Auger and husband Pete of Houston; sons, Frank C. D’Amico and wife Susan, of Bellaire, Texas; Nash F. D’Amico Jr. of Houston; and Sam E. D’Amico and wife Tommie of Lafayette, California. She is also survived by grandchildren, Brina D’Amico, Alyssa and Kristina D’Amico, Jeana and Nicholas Auger. Great grandchildren Liliana, Charlotte and Samantha. Step great grandchildren Emma, Betty and Abbey. Thirteen nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
A native Houstonian and second-generation Italian, she lived by the Italian Catholic values instilled by her parents. Like her mother, Italian to the core, and not using any formal recipes, Rosalie was an exceptional cook. She enjoyed nothing more than preparing Sunday lunches for her family. Rosalie and Nash, Sr. married June 29, 1947 at Holy Rosary Church in Houston, Texas.
Rosalie was an avid bridge player and exceptional, devoted dancer. She spent several days a week with her friends playing cards, and spent the past 30 years, enjoying her lifelong love of dancing with her companion, Roger Centeno (deceased). She was always impeccably dressed and took great pride in detail.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with family 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, the 5th of August in the Grand Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be prayed commencing at 6 o’clock. The Mass of Christian Burial and Rite of Committal will be held on Monday, the 6th of August at 10:00 am in the Grand Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale. Pallbearers are Frank, Charles, Bernard and Mary Margaret Petronella, Kathy Pizzitola, and David and Paul Consoli.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Houston Hospice. And, extend the utmost gratitude and thanks to extra special caregivers, Lupe, Yaneth, and Jalissa for their tireless service and compassion for our mother during the last months in her home.
