

Rosario Mugica Santiago passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, 45 days short of her 91st birthday in her home of Humble, Texas. She had fiercely battled her many health issues with grace and fortitude for many years with the guidance of her team of doctors and staff, Dr Marcy Lim (cardiologist), Dr. Helen Lee nephrologist, and FNP-C Jeffery Angel (Primary care physician) who all played a very important role in her battle.
Rosario was born on February 20, 1934 in Houston, Texas to Antonio Mugica and Isabel Macias Mugica.
Rosario married the love of her life Joe Humberto Santiago Sr. on December 30, 1955 and were married 64 years 80 days.
Rosario is preceded in death by, her husband Joe Humberto Santiago, Sr., parents, Antonio and Isabel Mugica, and sisters Isabel Pizzini and Esther Castillo.
She is survived by sons Joe Humberto Santiago Jr., Anthony, Isaac Santiago daughter. Rosario (Raymond) Wierzbicki, granddaughter Katherine Isabel(Cory) Arnett, and her loving companion, Nikki Santiago.
Rosario was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her life and her reason for living. She had a sweet and caring heart and was always there for anyone who needed guidance or just someone to listen. She had an infectious and outgoing personality, and always left a happy and warm impression. Rosario was affectionately called "Aunt Ancestry.com" due to her sharp mind and memory, and was always approached by young and old for details of the family tree.
Rosario was one of the founding members of Saint Leo, the great Catholic Church, Houston, Texas. She was recognized by archBishop DiNardo at the 50th anniversary of Saint Leo, the great Catholic Church. She was also the coordinator of the fundraiser for the expansion of the convent of the missionary Carmelites of Saint Theresa Houston, Texas.
While we grieve the loss of our beloved mother and grandmother, we are grateful that she is in heaven with our Lord and at peace.
A visitation for Rosario will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A prayer service will occur Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A committal service will occur Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
