Rose Marie (Grochett) Faterkowski, age 80, was born September 22, 1944, in Stoneham, TX and passed away on July 30, 2025, in Houston, TX. She was the 8th child born to Louis and Pearl Grochett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Faterkowski; her parents Louis and Pearl Grochett; her siblings: brothers, Brosig Grochett, David Grochett, Phillip Grochett and Marion Grochett; sisters: Dorothy Demny, Albina Grochett, Laura Krolczyk and Mary Ann Baker. She is survived by her sisters, Frances Wagner, Gloria Cegielski, husband Michael, and her brother Harold Grochett wife Patricia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and God Kids.
Rose Marie moved with her family from Stoneham, TX to the Houston Heights in 1958, when she was 13 years old. Never knowing that her roots would take shape and grow into a deep love for her community.
Rose Marie held several jobs through the years at different places like Fisherman’s Reef, Dentler Maid Potato Chip factory and Relco Electronics. All these experiences were stepping stones to her one day opening The Rose Garden. The Rose Garden, home of the coldest beer in town with the best music on the Juke Box has been owned and operated by Rose for the past 36 years. Throughout the years her customers became friends that turned into family. She was always available to drink a beer, listen to stories, offer friendly advice or lend a helping hand.
Rose Marie met Robert, and they were married on November 7, 1999. They celebrated 24 wonderful years together, before his death in 2023.
Rose Marie loved the Christmas season. She would spend hours baking her Never Fail cookies, shopping and decorating for the annual family Christmas party. She loved to cook, especially around the holidays. She always had a big pot of Czernina (tro-nina) every Christmas because she knew how much her family loved it. All her cooking will be missed, especially her tuna salad and homemade pickles.
One of Rose Marie’s favorite activities was taking a trip to Coushatta, whether it was for the day or the night she always enjoyed a gambling trip.
In lieu of flowers, the family will kindly accept donations that will be provided to retired Priests.
