

Rosa Maria Ortiz, age 85, of Pearland, Texas; passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 11, 2020. She was born May 1, 1935 in Laredo, Texas to Jose and Beatrice (Bryant) Ayala. She married Osvaldo Ortiz on September 11, 1955. She worked as an LVN for Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital for 30 years displaying her gentle, kind, and nurturing nature. Rosa lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; shopping was a favorite of hers, going to the senior center, going to the local Arts & Craft shows, having lunch with her friends, and talking on the phone with her family from Arizona. Rosa loved spending time with her children, and grandchildren most of all. Rosa was also a devoted Catholic and was a devoted member of St. Helens Catholic Church in Pearland where she was always participating in the events of the church. She loved to babysit the children during Sunday mass. She had a uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose & Beatrice Ayala, and her son Osvaldo Rene Ortiz. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Osvaldo Ortiz; son Robert Ortiz, son David Ortiz; daughter Sylvia Lynds and her husband Robert “Bob” Lynds; daughter Diana Johnson and her husband James Johnson; grand-daughter Jennifer Medina and husband Sergio; grand-daughter Natalie Diaz and partner Josh Delgado, grandson Jonathan Ortiz; grand daughter Brittany Ortiz; grandson Wesley Houston and his wife Erin; grand-daughter Adrianna Diaz; grand-daughter Haylie Elliott and husband John; grandson Tristan Tower; and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held a Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ForesParkLawndale.com for the Ortiz family. Due to the current COVID 19, service will be limited to 50 people. Please wear protective face masks while attending services. The funeral home is not accessible from Wayside because the Lawndale bridge is closed for construction, please find an alternative route to enter the cemetery.
