Rose Elois Kleinworth Van Loo, 84, a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died peacefully at her home in Houston on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Rosemary, as she was known to many, was born November 22, 1933, in Pinedale, Texas, to Frank Ditmar Kleinworth and Beulah Marie Bolles. She was the 10th of 11 children and the youngest daughter. She is preceded in death by her parents, and all of her brothers and sisters; by her husband, William “Bill” Carmi Van Loo; and by her children, Andrew Thompson, Martin Thompson, Julia Thompson Atkinson, and Sonja Van Loo Forbes. She is survived by her son, Paul Thompson and wife Janet; daughter, Cheryl French and husband Robert; son, Christopher Thompson and wife Julie; daughter, Kimberly Coachman and husband Jon; bonus daughter, Yolanda Van Loo Hoirup and husband Pete; son, Bill Van Loo and wife Vicky; twenty grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved Rosemary. From 1969 to 1983, Rosemary worked as an engineering technician at Texas Instruments. After her marriage to Bill in 1982 they traveled around the world. From 1985 to 1990, while Bill worked on numerous merchant ships as Chief Engineer, they visited and made ports of call in many countries. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, at Heights Funeral Home, 1307 Heights Boulevard, Houston 77008, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at All Saints Catholic Church, 215 East 10th Street, Houston 77008, with interment following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Ford, Bob Hall, Beau Kleinworth, Jack Kleinworth, Frank Kleinworth, Jeremy Thompson and Tamiya Thompson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her beloved nephew Joe Kleinworth and her longtime friends Mary Christou and Carol Poulis, as well as Dr. Fernando Urrutia and Dr. Jennifer Meyer, who gave Rosemary excellent care. The family thanks the caregivers at Accessible Home Health of Houston, especially Maite Mesa R.N., Helen Cruz, Rumyana Nikova and Ellada Mukhtarova, who gave Rosemary the best possible care at the end of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosemary’s name to the Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489, Brookshire, TX 77423. Employer matching donations to Brookwood also would be gratefully accepted. Rosemary loved to sing, read, write poetry, tell stories, travel, cook and entertain, but most of all she deeply loved her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
