Roselee Dorothy Janacek, known to most as Pat, Patty or Memaw was born on May 13th 1935 to Carlo and Angelina Scambray. She was born in Caldwell, TX but at a young age moved to Houston where her father ran a gas station on the corner of Airline and Little York. Across the street from the gas station sat a little white house where she, her 2 sisters and brother would grow up.
At the age of 18, Roselee met George Janacek and on July 5th 1953 they wed; recently celebrating their 69th anniversary. Together they had a daughter, Cheryl Ann Janacek. They bought a home off Airline which is still their residence.
Roselee worked for Brown & Root as well as Sears in her earlier years but she found her place working as a secretary for the Municipal courts along with her little brother Tony. Her nickname at work was “squeaky.” She went on to retire from the courts in her early 50’s. However being retired she spent much of her free time at Georges camper business, cleaning and helping. Every summer for nearly two decades, she and George would travel to Branson, Missouri where they became somewhat of minor celebrities thanks to George’s refurbished 1929 Ford Model A that was towed back and forth to the Ozarks and used to drive around town. In the late 80’s she and George purchased some land in Shiro, TX; otherwise known as the country. Every weekend thereafter was spent at the country making a second home and many memories with family.
Roselee was a devout Catholic. She was a member of the Catholic daughters, a member of the Assumption Church in Houston as well as St. Stanislaus church in Anderson, TX. She attended church every Saturday night and would go out to eat after with their church friends at the local Dairy Queen or at Knot’s Café.
Roselee took her final breath on August 9th 2022 at 1:00 pm surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home that she and George made nearly 70 years ago. Her fight with dementia & Alzheimer was finally over and she began her walk with God.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Angelina & Carlo, her brother Tony & her sister Albina.
She is survived by her husband George, her sister Pauline, her daughter Cheryl, son-in-law Eddie, her grandchildren Nathan, Dustin & Kelly, her great-grandchildren Josh, Chase, Aiden, Zoe & Jackson & by numerous nieces, nephews & friends who will miss her greatly.
A graveside service for Roselee will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
