She was born to Heymann Jules Dreyfus and Leah Ruth Huffer on August 2, 1927, in Houston, Harris, Texas. She graduated from Milby High School and was employed as a clerk for the Harris County Engineers Department. She married William “Bill” “Muggins” S. Parks, Jr. in May, 1956 at her parent’s family home, and they lived happily together in Pasadena, Texas for their 37 year marriage.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved parents and brother, Harry T. Dreyfus, Jr (Dorothy Gunderson). She leaves joyful memories with family members, Connie (Parks) Elliott and Bruce Gunderson (Abigail) and great-nephew, Austin Gunderson as well as cherished life-long friends, Grace and Charles White and Wallace Matthews. As well, there are many very close friends that cared deeply for Rosemary and will miss her dearly.
Rosemary was an active member of the Pasadena Historical Society for many years and along with her husband, Bill Parks, assisted in the promotion of the Heritage Park & Museum, specifically the Strawberry House that was donated by the Parks family. She was a longtime devoted member of the ___(Grace may know the name)____ Church and after it closed, recently began attending the Cathedral of Praise Assembly of God Church where she cherished hearing the word of God shared by Reverend Ronnie Jordan. She held a soft spot for all animals but particularly cared for stray cats, often spending great sums of her funds to ensure their good health. Her more recent hobbies included reading, researching genealogy, socializing and cheering the Rockets to a win. Chocolate was a favorite indulgence, and she had an eye for adventure, never turning down an opportunity to travel, be it around the corner or across the country.
Family and friends are invited to gather in a Celebration of Life on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10am at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, Houston, Texas. Reverend Ronnie Jordan will officiate. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pasadena Animal Shelter or the Pasadena Historical Society.
The family would like to express great thanks to Bernie Dray and her team of thoughtful and considerate care givers, Mary, Tilar and Shauna who were diligent to ensure Rosemary’s every need was met over this past year, and particularly during her recent decline. A special heartfelt thanks to Mary for filling Rosemary’s days with extra joy and much needed stern instructions!
