Roy Melvin Gentry Sr.

On March 4, 1938 a beautiful baby boy, Roy M. Gentry was born to Lou Ella Hall and Harry Gentry. He departed this life on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Roy attended grade school in Patterson, Texas. He later graduated from Clemons High School in 1959. He united in Holy Matrimony with Doris Fluellen to which that union has two daughters Shirley Gentry and Phillippa Lewis (Kandi). Later Roy united in Holy Matrimony with Dora M. Mattox to which that union has one daughter; Kimberly R. Gentry, and two sons Roy M. Gentry III and Christopher M. Gentry. He worshipped at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W. J. Foreman and later under the leadership of Pastor Maurice Johnson. He served on the usher board for over 47 years, until his health failed him. Roy was employed by Southline Metal Products for 47 years until his health failed him. He was preceded in death by both parents and one son Roy M. Gentry Jr. II and one daughter Shirley Gentry. He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Dora M. Gentry; children Kimberly R. Gentry, Roy M. Gentry III (Youlanda K. Gentry), Christopher M. Gentry (Nina M. Gentry), Phillippa Lewis (Kandi), Sandra Evans (Ronnie Roberson), Youlanda M. Bell (William Bell); grandchildren Frederick Gentry, Bryan Gentry, Kyla Wilson, Victoria Wilson, Maleighya Lewis, Austin Lewis, Alicia Evans, Jasmine M. Gentry-Spencer, Raven S. Gentry, Megan N. Gentry, Roy M. Gentry IV, Royland Gentry, Zoe Gentry, Faith Bell and thirteen great grandchildren, a host of cousins, Aunt Wilma Gentry and Uncle Sie Hall, Jr., extended family Callie Nickerson and Sonji Taylor.
