

Ruth Gaynell Luksa, age 83, passed away on December 24, 2020 in The Woodlands, TX. She was born in McClennan County, Texas to James Walter and Annie Ruth Wallace Whisenant on May 17, 1937. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas Whisenant, and her beloved husband of 42 years, Gene Luksa.
Gaynell is survived by her siblings, Betty Zgabay (Mark), Sue Skweres (Billy), JB Whisenant (Carol); children, Donald Luksa (Deborah), James Luksa (Nancy), Vicki Wilson (Ronald), Barbara Butts (Timothy); Grandchildren Gina Hale, Kyle Luksa, Amanda Cranford, Keith Luksa, Crissie Fowler, and Rachel Wilson; 10 great-grandchildren, and a number of ‘adopted’ sons and daughters.
Gaynell spent most of her life in Houston, raising a family and enjoying a lengthy career in the banking industry. Shortly after leaving the Weingarten’s grocery chain, she took a job as a bank teller and after 40+ years retired from Prosperity Bank as a Vice President in 2010. Gaynell was a lifelong, avid reader, often completing multiple books in a week. She also enjoyed computer games, bowling, and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060 from 1:00-5:00 p.m., followed by services on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, face masks will be required to enter the building and at any time present in the lobby. Extended family and friends are encouraged to pay their respects on Sunday due to potentially limited seating due to social distancing restrictions; however, your presence will be genuinely welcomed and appreciated at either gathering.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Henry's Home, Horse and Human Sanctuary @ www.HenrysHomeHorseSanctuary.org. This program provides animal sanctuary and equine therapy to veterans and first responders. It was a charity close to Gaynell's heart.
