It has taken me a few weeks to finally get the words right for this post. Ryan Martin was my lunch-buddy every day at school. We would have the most random conversations whether it was at lunch during the school day, at your house while having margaritas, or at Lights in the Heights. Thank you for all the help, advice, and laughs that occurred throughout our 8 year friendship.
This upcoming school year will be very difficult without having you there. I was expecting to go down to your room and eat lunch there every day again.
I lost one of my best friends but I hope that you have found peace. Rest In Peace, Mr. Martin... you will not be forgotten!

My son was a student in this past year in Mr. Martin's AP class.  I talked with Mr. Martin throughout the school year and he was excited to have my son in his class.  Mr. Martin thank you for choosing to educate children. My son is saddened by your passing. I send my condolences to your family. May God keep and comfort you all in your time of grief.  
Rest in the arms of our heavenly father Mr. Martin. 


Ryan was in Junior High when I met him.  His mother and I became best friends. Through his mother Connie I was able to keep up with Ryan's sports achievements.  He was the sweetest boy.  He will be missed by many.

In Mr. Martin's last year at North Shore, I was in his class and I can remember how much we all wanted the school year to end., but not for him to leave. Mr. Martin loved real education and would often get caught up in the importance of teaching us the past. Not all kids saw how valuable learning history was but he was one of the few teachers who would always insist that we have to understand what happened in the past to philosophize what's to come. You've always been a concrete memory of my time in high school and it was hard hearing this news. Thank you so much, Mr. Martin, may you rest in peace. 

Blessing and strength to the Martin family.  I did not have the pleasure of making Mr. Martin ‘s acquaintance but am sure glad to be an educator.  It appears he made the connection to his students as we were tasked with.  For that, well done.  Teaching is tough but to read about how he touched their lives and helped to develop them. Again well done.  Rest In Peace Mr Martin; know that your labor was not in vain.

Mr.Martin was my AP History teacher this last year and he was by far one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. He was always upfront with my class and tried his best to teach us even though at times we didn’t appreciate his efforts. History has always come naturally to me  so Mr.Martin and I always would have small conversations about historical matters and his class was always the highlight of my day Rest In Peace Mr.Martin

Ryan was a very kind, supportive and fun friend in college and beyond!  I will never forget the memories and fun trips (to New Orleans for Monday Night Football, to NYC for my bachelor party, to Atlanta where we met up while he was working a summer job in Alabama).  I was also fortunate enough to spend time with Ryan and Joette at many college weddings after graduation.   His friendship will be greatly missed, but the memories will not be forgotten.  I will be thinking about Joette and Kellan for a long time as they go through this tough time.  

Mr. Martin was one of those teachers that I randomly think about time to time. He was a very caring teacher, which isn’t easy to come by these days. He truly cared about his students and loved what he did.  He was a funny man. For our homework at the beginning of the semester we were to read each paragraph and summarise. He asked me a question one day and I couldn’t answer it. He asked “How do you not know when you’ve done the homework correctly?” He realised that, that method of homework wasn’t working and fixed it so that his students could actually learn from their homework. 
I never had any bad memories from his class. It was always a good atmosphere and he taught with a purpose. He was also very understanding of each and every one of his students.
I cried this morning when I read about his passing on Facebook. My prayers go out to his family and I hope they read and know that he was loved dearly by his students.

Mr. Martin was one of the most influential people in my life. He was always honest with me after classes about growing up as a student and a person. I can't thank him enough for everything he has shared with me and the passion he embodied as a teacher. I learned to truly appreciate history while taking his class as a sophomore. He always wanted us to do our best in class and future endeavors beyond high school. Rest in Peace, Mr.Martin and thank you for everything. 

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Martin’s family. He was my favorite teacher in high school. I used to stop by his classroom every morning before class and every day after school. Even after 10th grade, I would still go to his classroom every day in 11th grade and complain that I didn’t get to have his class anymore. He would laugh at how dramatic I was about my other classes and the people in them. The things I remember most about him are his sense of humor and his love for football. Mondays after school I wouldn’t stay long in his classroom because that was when him and Julius would talk about Sunday football. 😅 I had to take the AP World History exam on my birthday, and I remember he brought me a pink beaded necklace with a flower at the end. I told him it was just the birthday magic I needed to pass the exam that day. He truly cared about his students and their education, and he never failed to greet us all with a smile.. even as early as first period 😁 I am truly thankful and blessed to have had him as a teacher. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Mr. Martin. 

Mr. Martin was a teacher at North Shore Senior High. He wasn’t even my teacher, but I was very much aware  of his presence in the school. He taught AP World History and my AP World History class was on the same hallway.  I spoke to Mr. Martin every other morning throughout the entire school year, just to be nice. His personality may not have been the strongest and the wildest, but his spirit was very much warm and welcoming. I pray his memory lives on forever.  

Transitioning to my sophomore year was one of the most challenging things I ever had to do , many teachers seem as though they lost hope In my success and well being but Mr.Martin took me and his all his other students and loved us as if we was his own. He showed us the true meaning of faith while teaching us the most challenging subjects in school: World History. He gave us hope in our futures and for that I and many other students will be forever grateful. Rest easy Mr.Martin

Mr. Martin was the sweetest, most wonderful teacher I've ever had. He was someone who was always there for his students and went to every extent to make learning fun for us. I found myself visiting him even when I wasn't in his class anymore. He was a kind, passionate teacher and I am so thankful to have had the chance to sit in his classroom and learn from the best teacher this world could offer. He will be greatly missed in the classroom by his students, missed at home by his family, but most importantly he will be missed by everyone in our hearts. RIP Mr. Martin. 

Mr. Martin was one of the best teachers I ever had. He was my AP World history teacher in high school. I fondly remember him being so passionate about teaching and cared very much  about his students. I pray peace and comfort to his family in this difficult time. May he Rest In Peace.

Mr. Martin was by far one of my favorite teachers at NSSH. He was my 10th grade AP World History teacher, and when I took online AP Environmental Science, he always let me stay in his classroom during that period while he taught class. I really admired him and deeply valued his opinion and advice. I will never forget him and the significant impact he had on my life. RIP, Mr. Martin. 💕

Mr. Martin instilled in me a love for US history. He created a history trivia game with a football-themed point system that made me excited about class. He was a very nice and sincere person, and truly was one of my favorite teachers at NSSH.

Mr. Martin  was an incredible teacher.  He taught me AP US History my junior year in highschool. During the year I told him I wanted to get a history degree and make a career in that field. I expected him to advise to try something else, something that made more money, but he immediately started listing schools with great history programs. I can’t appreciate him enough for not questioning what my dream was but just doing his best to help me get there. He was a funny and  inspiring teacher, one I won’t forget. My prayers for his family.  

Mr. Martin was my AP world history teacher my sophomore year at North Shore High school 6 years ago. He was one of my all time favorite teachers and I will forever cherish his knowledge, ability to teach, and the kindness he showed me and all his students. He was a great man and I have nothing but good memories from his class. My only regret is that I didn’t get the chance to see him again after I graduated. Rest In Peace Mr. Martin, know that you changed my life.

Mr. Martin was by far one of my favorite teachers, he made learning fun and easy for a lot of us. I had the privilege of having his class as a 10th grader and now that I am an upcoming senior I still cherish the memories we have, from discussing his favorite movies to talking about college basketball, he was always positive and hopeful for the future.
