

On March 25, 1925, in Willis, TX, Albert and Mary Williams gave birth to their first son SamuelWilliams. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Albert Jr, Robert, Jeremiah, Vernon; and sisters Thelma, Helen, and Carrie. He has one surviving brother, Dr. Arthur Williams. Samuel attended public schools in Texas. He entered the work force at a young age. He had plans and dreams of being his own man. He worked various jobs such as Mosher Steel, and he crafted his skills early in his career at Hoggatt Masonry. In 1954, he fulfilled his vision and started his own construction, concrete and remodeling company. He employed many men of the Heights and Acres Homes communities. In 1943, he married the beautiful soft spoken Miss Mattie Pearl Johnson of the Heights. To this union two sons were born, the late Harold J. Williams, and Herbert L. Williams. In 1948, they moved from the Heights area and purchased some land in the Acres Homes community where they built a home and reared their sons. Samuel accepted JesusChrist at an early age. He had a brief membership at Mt. Pisgah. He was an ordained Deacon at Second Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor James Whorton, where he attended faithfully until his health began to decline. He as an avid supporter of each pastor of the flock. He sang in the male chorus and the senior choir. He also did jobs around the church. He loved the Lord and helping people. In 92 years he was blessed with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. He extended his love to those who no longer had a father or a grandfather. He leaves the following family members to mourn his passing and cherished memories, his beloved wife of 74 years,Mrs. Mattie Williams; one son, Herbert (Brenda); one special daughter Katina (Curtis); God Daughter Sheletta; grandchildren: Ava (Chris deceased), Warrick (Joann), Donnell (Leslie), Alexandria, Derrika, Brandon, Kerry, Jarrod; and one brother Arthur. A host of nieces, nephews and friends.
