Sandra pursued her education with steady purpose, graduating from Sam Houston State University with a BS and later earning a Master’s Degree from the University of Houston. She carried that commitment into her life’s work as a school teacher, serving others with patience, care, and a deep sense of responsibility.
She was a single Mom raising two rambuncious boys on a teacher salary. She made every sacrifice possible to provide for her sons, while emphasizing the Golden Rule regularly to them. She loved to provide memorable vacations and experiences for her boys. She was a very strong willed woman with lots of ambition. She loved the Rocky Mountains and would take her boys there every chance possible.
A woman of faith, Sandra was actively involved in the Methodist Church, where her devotion and presence reflected a life grounded in belief and community. Beyond her commitments, she found joy in simple pleasures—especially two-step dancing and karaoke—interests that brought energy and warmth to the moments she shared with others.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Finis Edwin Stancil and Marian Louise Stancil. She is survived by her children, Joe Daniel Kennedy and Jeff William Kennedy, and her sister, Marilyn L. Matthews.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, on October 16, 2026, at 9:00 am with a Funeral Service at 10:00 am. A Committal Service will take place at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The family would like to thank Magolia Estates in Grand Prairie, TX and Avir @ Angle in Fort Worth, TX for the care and compassion they showed Sandra in her final days.
