

Sandy attended Austin High school in Houston and graduated from UT and UT School of Law.
He practiced law in Houston and held numerous other positions that involved his legal expertise, retiring from Prosperity Bank in 2005
Sandy met his life partner and best friend Karl Lewis in 1973, and they were married in Santa Fe, NM in March 2015.
Karl and Sandy were both very active at Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church from 1982 until they retired to Galveston in 2005 at which time Sandy was instrumental in forming Harbor Metropolitan Community Church in Galveston. He was a longtime member of several Excel retreat teams during the years he lived in Houston.
He was predeceased by his parents Robert L. and Imogene S. Hardin, and his wife, Marilyn Hardin.
Sandy loved his friends, his family, his church, decorating for holidays, his pets, traveling and gardening.
After Karl and Sandy retired to Galveston he became active in the Galveston Historical Foundation and the East End Historical District Association and was often tending the garden at the association’s headquarters, the East End Cottage.
He is survived by his spouse Karl Lewis of Galveston; his loving pets Abigail, Molly and Bugs; cousins Margaret Hardin Robberson and her family of Rockwall, TX ; cousin Scott Hardin and his family of El Dorado ,AR and sister-in-law Karen Lewis Riordan and her family of Wimberley, TX.
