Scott Vincent Summers, 64, died at home in Houston, Texas fighting cancer Thursday August 30, 2012. He was born in Baraboo Wisconsin while his parents Winfred and Virginia were attending the University of Wisconsin on the GI Bill, both of whom are still living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Scott is also survived by his siblings Kirk, Roy and Jan, plus his two children Christopher and Ben.
After graduating in 1972 from LSU in Electrical Engineering, Scott quickly earned his professional engineering license. During his career Scott worked for several different companies in the power transmission and off shore Oil and Gas production industries. His responsibilities regularly took him to assignments all over the world. Scott loved the challenges of his work in unique rugged environments, but just as much if not more so, the intrigue and variety of all the different cultures he got to experience. His home is like a small museum, with all the artifacts from his many ports of call.
Scott had a passion for life and pursued it with gusto. He was an avid fan of LSU sports and in particular LSU football. Scott loved movies, anything to do with history and books on a multitude of subjects. His favorite night on the town included a cheerful dinner with family or friends, followed by attending a show at the Houston Theater. It was impossible to be out with him and not have a good time and lots of laughs. Scott was a great family man and one could not ask for a more loyal, giving, dedicated friend. Scott was greatly loved, admired and will be dearly missed.
