

Selma Ruth (Walker) Smith was born on August 30, 1924 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. She was one of three children born to the late John Thomas and Jennie Fanning Walker. She passed away on July 16, 2021 in Houston, Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Meyer F. Smith, Jr., and her brother, Bob Walker.
Selma was a retired Secretary and Housewife. She was a long-time member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where she participated in the Lutheran Ladies Circle, the Bereavement Committee, and volunteered as Secretary for the Church.
Survivors include her sons Brent Smith (Margaret) of Metairie, LA, and Anthony Smith (Chris) of Houston, TX, daughter Kathleen Smith, granddaughter Elizabeth Smith of Metairie, LA, sister Dorothy Walker Monks of Fayetteville, TN, honorary grandson Cole Clary (Messina) and great-grandson Nova Luis; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
We give special thanks to the Memory Care Staff of Belmont Village Hunters Creek: especially Elizabeth, Tasha, Courtney, Rosette, Bruce, Yameka and Ashley; Lacey of Crossroads Hospice; and Chris Lorenzen and Pete Peterson of St. Mark's, who brought the church to her when she was no longer able to attend in person.

Visitation with the family was held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Funeral services began at 2:00 p.m. in the RL Waltrip Venue. Interment followed at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
