A Sergio le sobrevive su esposa Juany Mata; hijos, Sergio Mata Jr., Tanya Graciela Mata y José Augusto Mata; nietos, Sydney Alessandra Garcia, Vivienne Alexa Garcia, Amelia Mata, Madilyn Penelope Mata, Sergio Mata lll y Marienne Astrid Frewert.

Sergio Mata trabajó como maquinista la mayor parte de su vida. Disfrutaba de los deportes en general pero amaba el fútbol y el béisbol. Le encantaba salir a cenar con su familia y pasar tiempo con sus nietos. Todos los años, durante los últimos 40 años, siempre envió flores a nuestra madre que incluían la frase "Si las flores pudieran hablar". Ahora nos damos cuenta de que no fue falta de creatividad, simplemente se quedó con lo que funcionó para él, su matrimonio, sus hijos y su vida. Echaremos mucho de menos su sentido del humor y su narración.

Sergio Mata, 65, of Houston, Texas / Nuevo León, Mexico, passed July 14, 2023. Sergio was born to Fermin C. Mata and Graciela Martinez, September 12,1957. He married Juany Mata in 1978, and they lived together in Houston,Texas. Together they raised 3 children.

Sergio is survived by his wife Juany Mata; children, Sergio Mata Jr., Tanya Graciela Mata, and Jose Augusto Mata; grandchildren, Sydney Alessandra Garcia, Vivienne Alexa Garcia, Amelia Mata, Madilyn Penelope Mata, Sergio Mata lll, and Marienne Astrid Frewert.

Sergio Mata worked as a machinist for most of his life. He enjoyed sports in general but loved soccer and baseball. He loved dining out with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Every year for the past 40+ years he always sent our mother flowers which included the phrase “Si las flores pudieran hablar”. We now realize it wasn’t a lack of creativity, he simply stuck with what worked for him, his marriage, his kids, and life. His sense of humor and storytelling will be greatly missed.
