Sorry to hear about your loss.  Mama Shanti is a loving and godly woman. She did an excellent job raising Shobana, Vinodh and Saumya.  She is very hospitable, and a very wonderful presence in our HICF activities.  I miss that  delicious special fried rice she made.  I know she is in heaven now, maybe catching up with Imelda.  Great to know she is home with our Savior

My deepest sympathies to all the family members. My memories go back to when we the lads were in and out of your house down flower road as teenagers and your dearest mother was there for us in many ways, thoughtful to the extent that even when she was not at home, the food was served on the table for us whenever we dropped by after school. 
May She Rest in Peace 🙏 

 Before her kids got married our families  used to meet up. We never ran out of things to say.

Auntie Shanthi had such a sweet smile( captured at my parents renewal of vows in 1985).

Richard Shobana, Vinodh, and Saumya Lee and family,

Shanthi, was  special to me and she always expressed love and support for the ministry God had given me. We loved being around her and her specialness is reflected in her children. What a godly heritage she and Richard have. I wish I could there for the evening viewing and the service of loving remembrance. I await the resurrection of the dead at our Lord Jesus return when we will see her again and join in the unending life of all the redeemed!  
I sorrow with you at her passing.  But we do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.  For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 1 Thessalonians 4:13b-14

Richard, Vinodh, and Saumya,

We are grateful that the Lord gave your mom a  long life so you could enjoy her presence with you. One thing I remember was that delicious traditional Sri Lankan rice dish that she had fixed for all of us. 
But death is not the end of the story for the Christian. Christ will return with a trumpet blast and loud command and bring all those who've previously died with him and raise up those remaining on the earth - all of us will be changed and given bodies like unto Christ's glorious resurrection body, and so we will ever be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).  We await that great day and meanwhile carry on the work of the Lord here. Christ is the Victor over sin and death. To him be glory now and forever! We're sorry we won't be able to attend the funeral tomorrow - the Lord's comfort be with you all.   With love, Jeff Gregory

Shanthi was full of life, the Spirit, joyful, a "world" Christian and the example of hospitality. In her presence you felt loved and cared for. She was an accomplished teacher in every way. We thank the Lord for our time in Houston at HICF and getting to know the matriarch of the Gunesekera family.  She and Richard have left a legacy for Christ in the own work and in the lives of the children, grandchildren,  and those who knew them both.
