In life the Lord allows us to come across angels that leave a great mark upon our lives. Ms. Shirley Mae was one of those angels. Darlene,growing up we had such a closeness that we shared your mother with you.She corrected and instructed as all mothers do and I am very happy to have know her. Darlene let is know if you need anything...the three amigos (Cheryl, Pam and Adriane) are here for you.

Dear Darlene, Tamara, Hazel and Family,

My heart is deeply saddened to hear of Shirley's passing.

I have such fond memories of her and of ALL of us growing up in “The Heights”.
Our school days were so much fun!  I loved hanging out at your Grand Dad's house with you, your Mom, cousins and friends. 
I remember there was always BBQ's, Fish fries, parties, cards, dominoes and laughter.

I remember Shirley was always cooking something!  I remember the first time I ate her gumbo with the turkey necks in it . . . I was in heaven.  I ate 5 bowls that day!

Shirley was such a cool mom. She had a great sense of humor too. She always gave good advice and words of wisdom as we grew older. She was a joy to be around. I know she will truly be missed!

Please know you ALL have my deepest sympathy and are in my thoughts and prayers.

Darlene, you, Tamara, Hazel and the rest of the family are in my thoughts and prayers.  I was thinking about Shirley the other day.  I saw this woman that looked like her and that made me smile and today I just happened to stumble across the Carl Barns website and saw the name Shirley Jones under the recent obituaries.  My heart is hurting right now.  I remember that beautiful smile Shirley had and no one could say "Darlene" like Shirley.

Shirley you were a joy and it was a pleasure to have known you.  Most teenagers don't enjoy being around their parents, (grownups), but we all had fun around you. Thank you for that. Rest in peace Sweet Lady.

I cannot believe that you are no longer with us here on earth, but one day, we shall meet again. When I heard the Lord had called another angel home, it was heart breaking for me. Still, I think about you daily and remember the good times that you and I have shared. I remember how while you were walking Hunter, and I would come to visit my mother, see you and Hunter outside, I would speak to Hunter first because he is my baby. You would say "Look at Cheryl speaking to Hunter first". It was always fun being around you. You were, and still are a beautiful person , and still, I cannot believe that you are gone. Since I have moved to TX in 2007, I have known you through my mother Beverly Ferguson, your friend and your neighbor. I also remember you going to my mother's apartment, with you container in hand and asking for ice cream. Of course you would leave with more than ice cream. The last time I saw you on 12-31-13 in the hallway a few hours before the New Year came in, you and I were clowning around like we always did (what a memory). My heart is heavy right now but, at least I know another angel is no longer suffering or in pain. R.I.P. my dear friend, R. I. P. We shall one day meet again.

It gonna take some time for me to truly realize that my neighbor Shirley is no longer physically next door from me. Every time I pass her door I think of her she was always a kind considerate  joyful type of person who faced her illness with boldness. So sad that you are not here with me but you are at Peace now no more pain. Shirley Mae Jones We Love You RIP!

You once told me, you were here because Linda couldn't be.  Those word stick to me like glue that I have no desire to free myself from.  Your love for me was truly unconditional and I couldn't have asked for a better person in my life.  We've joked many times that Arthur was just a stepping stone for me to get to you and for you to get to me, but in reality that was the truth.  It's amazing how God put things in place when we aren't aware of it.  There is and will never be a replacement for you and I just pray that some of your courage and strength has been preserved in me.  It's hard for me to explain to others who you truly were for me, to me, but I'm no longer going to try, or to feel guilty for loving you as much as I did.  You said it perfectly, "I'm here because Linda can't be.  It didn't mean you replaced her, it just meant you filled in, in places she couldn't, that is what makes you my mother too.  You will be missed so much and never forgotten.  Until we meet again

To my mama.  Although you are gone, You are deep in my heart and soul.  We had our good times and bad time like all kids and parents do.  I will always remember our time together as if you were still here with me.  The Lord called you home to rest.  No more suffering and pain.  Sleep my mama until we meet again.  I will miss how you said my name.  I'm glad I got to talk to you that morning before you went home.  I have my "big girl panties on".  Love Darlene.

James and Pat Strolger will definitely miss Shirley, especially those days of walking our dogs. Just knew her for 6 months but she was always so helpful and so kind to us. To the family, you are in our prayers for God to comfort and give peace during this difficult time.

You will be truly missed. Sending love and blessings to everyone during this difficult time.

TO, the failey , Darlene , Deetra and Tamara, thank you all for sharing this beauitful person with me , yes god has called her home but, we will never foget her beauitful sprit and lovly smile , i will miss you MAMMA shirley but i know your on the other side , i cant wait to meet you there , to get another one of those warm juicy hugs!
