Sonjia Wheelus Hairston was born in Cameron, Texas to parents Charlie E. Wheelus and Ruby Norville Wheelus. She entered into eternal life in Houston, Texas on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the age of 66.
Sonjia was preceded in death by her father, Charlie, and is survived by her mother, Ruby, of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her two daughters, Michelle Hairston (Joe) of Victoria, TX and Charlotte McLane (Wayne) of Houston; sisters, Odell Smith (Joe) of Missouri City, TX and Charlene Johnson (Kevin) of Spring, TX; and by her six grandchildren: Cole, Hunter, Joseph, Grace, Jesse and Johnny.
A private service for family and close friends was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, with Reverend M. Eugene Vickrey officiating.
