Stella Jennings

The sun rose in Gonzales, Texas on July 23, 1910, bringing with it, a new life - a beautiful girl born to Alex and Mattie Carr. She was named Stella Carr, and was the seventh child of eight children. Stella accepted Christ at the age of eleven years old and was baptized by Rev. J.M. Williams. She married and had one son. She later moved to Sugar Land, Texas. She met and married Willie Jennings. They moved to Houston and united with the Mt. Lebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.R. Randle. Stella later united with Lyons Unity Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. O.C. Johnson, where she served for 28 years, working with the Sunday School, B. T. U, choir and Mission, in which she was president. In her older years, for conveni-ence, Stella united with the Creston Baptist Church and served well under the leadership of Rev. Leroy Ross. Stella Jennings departed this life on July 3, 2012. She is survived by her one son; one daughter-in-law; one great-grandchild; one great-grandson-in-law; and two great-great grandchildren.
