

He was born in Houston, Texas on 12/11/1946 to Joe and Isabel Cirtaus. Baptized into Bethany Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas, where he attended grades K-8th grade. He then graduated class of 1965 from Jefferson Davis High School, Houston, Texas.
He was drafted into the Army and served 2 years from June 6, 1966 to June 5, 1968 and served 1 year in the Vietnam War in CuChi. Steven was a member of the 1st Battalion 27th Infantry (The Wolfhounds) and held several honors during his time of service to include: Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), Good Conduct Medal (1st award), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantryman Badge.
Upon returning from the war, he received a technical certification and welding certification from Durham Technical College then went on to work a career in Telecommunications for 34 years for AT&T (formerly Southwestern Bell).
He was married to Kathlyn Kay Wunderlich on April 2, 1971. They recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his daughter Kara Nichols and spouse Jody Nichols, son Gregory Cirtaus, son Tommy Cirtaus and spouse Sophia Cirtaus; grandchildren Meghan Nichols and Matthew Robinson, Zachary Nichols and Rayna Compton, and Jadyn Cirtaus; great grandchildren Emma Robinson and a baby girl coming in October; sister Candace Young and spouse Bill Young.
He had a passion for the outdoors, firearms, gun smithing, woodworking, and old “hot rods”, especially his 1968 Chevy Camaro.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Earthman Resthaven, Houston, Texas on Friday, May 23,2025 as follows: Viewing: 10:00-12:45pm, Service-12:45pm
Burial following service at Houston National Cemetery-2:15 pm.
