Throughout his life, Steven carried himself with a steady devotion—to God, to his family, and to the people around him. He was hard-working and resilient, meeting life with quiet strength, and he was equally known for a gentle spirit and a kind-hearted way of caring for others. His generosity and selflessness were not reserved for special occasions; they were part of how he lived each day, offering compassion and thoughtfulness in ways that made others feel seen and supported.
Steven’s love for music and art was a constant thread in his life. He pursued that passion with determination, taking online college courses and working toward a bachelor’s degree in audio engineering, and he completed his Audio Arts program at Full Sail University. Creating music was more than an interest—it was one of the ways he expressed what mattered most to him.
Above all, Steven loved his family dearly—his mother, his sisters, his boys, and his girl. His sons, Ezra Penaloza and Cloud Penaloza, and their mother, Oyenit Penaloza, were held closest to his heart. His devotion was unmistakable, and he consistently put them above anyone else, cherishing them as his most dear loved ones.
Steven’s faith shaped the way he moved through the world. He served God with sincerity, and his commitment to church life and volunteering reflected a faithful heart that looked outward. He helped disciple others in church and at Sheepfold, where his brothers meant a great deal to him and remained an important part of his spiritual community.
Steven also found joy in the everyday—skateboarding, cooking, and especially enjoying pineapple upside down cake. He was, to many, a true bundle of joy: often the loudest in the room, filling it with his smile, laughter, and goofiness. His humor brought lightness, and his presence brought warmth.
Steven is survived by his mom, Martha Zavala; sisters, Natalie Silvas, Harmoni Silvas, Melodee Silvas; sons, Ezra Penaloza and Cloud Penaloza; significant other and mother of sons Oyenit Penaloza; uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and grandmother.
