August 29, 1963 - August 11, 2025
Steven "Houth" Tea passed away peacefully on August 11th, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Pursat, Cambodia, on August 29, 1963, Steven was one of nine siblings and the beloved second son of Am Tea and Eang Ky Ngo. His early life was marked by hardship. He lost his father and four siblings by the age of 18. Alongside his mother and several siblings, he fled his homeland and found refuge in Houston, Texas.
In 1986, Steven married the love of his life, Nay Tea- A partnership built on deep love and unwavering support. Together they had three children: Ryan, Christopher, and Victoria. For most of his life, Steven worked hard to support his family. He ran a car dealership business alongside his brothers. During midlife, Steven and his wife operated several liquor stores in the Downtown and North Houston areas.
Steven was known for his generous heart and playful spirit. He never worried about what others thought of him, or how he dressed. He rocked his ‘Success Perm’, had fun- and found joy in all seasons of life. His hobbies include testing his luck at the casinos, gardening, and being “Gong” to his three grandchildren.
In October 2022, Steven was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Throughout it all, he remained himself- Cracking jokes, staying positive, and holding tightly to the love of his family.
Steven is survived by his devoted wife, their three children, and three grandchildren. He also leaves behind his Aunt Susan, four of his eight siblings, and a large extended family. Steven will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
