On August 11, 1966 I, Stevie Prophet Sr., was born to Virgina Ann and Roy Prophet of Houston, Texas. I started this race of life with vatality and enthusiasm. From Buchanan H. Grimes, Albert Thomas, to Sterling High School. I was excited and eager to live life fully. With my parents as my coaches, I was given the foundation upon which I was able to build a strong faith, ideals, and dreams for the future. I met many people that enriched my life. I loved them and they loved me. If you dont believe me, just look around you today and you'll see. Very early my brothers Danny, Tony, Darrel, Bryon, Drexel, Tyrell, Andre, and I formed a team; and Oh Boy, what a heck of a team we made. Together, we faced the world and built long, lasting relationships. Together, we learned life's lessons of friendship and love. Later in life I decided to branch off to different opportunities and settled down in Dallas Texas for 15 years.I thought that I would be in Dallas forever but as you all know our plan is not always gods plan. I found myself back residing in Houston Texas where I proceed in death with my mother Virginia Ann Prophet, father Roy Prophet, and my brother Tony Prophet. As my teammates and I got older, I decided to expand our team. So, I added my handsome son, Stevie Prophet Jr and Sharon Prophet, his mother. The race of life was great, but it was not without its obstacles and hurdles. I learned to jump high and maneuver myself around obstacles. I learned how to pick myself up after a fall and go on. My family, friends, and church family have sustained me durilng the heart of the race - - and to them I am most appreciative. On Feburary 23, 2012 I approached my last hurdle. I didn't anticipate it, but I accepted it. This hurdle was a little too high for me to jump alone, so my Savior carried me over and guided me safely to the other side. I know it is hard to let me go, but I say to my family and friends, "Cry if you must, but don't weep long for me. My race is won. Live the abundant life. Set goals and strive to reach them. 'Go for the Gold.' " I leave behind six brothers who I will dearly love and miss. One sister in law and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
