Susan Grace Cullen went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Pasadena, Texas, at the age of 75. Born in Borger, Texas, on December 2, 1950, she was the youngest child of Dr. Reverend Paul B. Cullen and Margaret Evelyn Cullen.
Susan’s love of learning emerged early and was nurtured by her devoted parents. She attended Cage Elementary, Stonewall Jackson Junior High, and Stephen F. Austin High School. Drawn to education—especially her beloved mathematics—she pursued her calling at the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education (Magna Cum Laude) and a Master of Education in Early Childhood (Summa Cum Laude). These achievements launched a remarkable teaching career that spanned four decades and touched countless young lives.
Faith, family, and service were the pillars of Susan’s life. From childhood, she was deeply involved in her church community. As an adult, she became an active member of First Baptist Church Friendswood, where she sang in the choir, served as a soloist, and led Bible studies with grace and conviction.
A dedicated member of the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority, Susan poured her energy into supporting women’s shelters, fundraising for cancer research, visiting nursing homes, and organizing “Adopt a Family for Christmas” programs at Jamison Middle School. Even after retirement, her passion for teaching never waned—she continued to substitute teach and founded a private tutoring program to help children who needed extra support. Her greatest joy was seeing her students grow into confident, successful adults.
Though Susan never married or had children of her own, she filled that space with boundless love for her nieces, nephews, and the many students she considered “her kids.” She was whimsical, affectionate, and endlessly generous—always present when she was needed. Her passing leaves her family bereft of their beloved Aunt, whose warmth and devotion shaped their lives in immeasurable ways.
Susan is survived by her nieces Christine Elizabeth Shea, Marney Lynn Cullen (John), and Amy Elisabeth Cullen Madison; and by her nephews David Lawrence Shea, Patrick Michael Shea (Margo), and Andrew David Cullen (Kathy). She also leaves behind numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Reverend Paul Bryan Cullen and Margaret Evelyn Cullen; her brother David Paul Cullen; her sister-in-law Naomi Joyce Cullen; and her sister Margaret Helen Shea.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with the committal service at 2:00 p.m.
