Danny,  My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your families.  Susan was a great person and she will be missed. I always enjoyed working with Susan and respected her efforts.

Susan Yvonne Smith Townsend, 62, passed away Saturday, May 26th, 2012 at her home after a long illness.  Susan is survived by her loving husband, Danny, of Houston; her sister, Julie and husband Earl, nephew Cole and niece Hannah, all of Seattle.  Her step-children, Gary Townsend and his wife, Diane.  Edsel Townsend and his wife Dawn, all of Houston, and Trudi Townsend of Wilmington, Delaware.  Granddaughters Jennifer Vaughn and husband Tim, and granddaughter, Tiffany Townsend, all of Houston.  Grandchild, Nash Townsend, and great grandchild Maddie Vaughn, plus a host of other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth, in 1998 and her father, Maurice in 2007.  Susan was born in Asheville, NC and moved to Houston in the mid 1950's.  She attended South Houston High School and Southwest Texas State.  As a child, she was active in Park Place Baptist Church and the youth group.  She worked for Arco/Lyondale, Pasadena for 20 years, retiring in 1996 due to health issues.  Susan and her husband were married for 23 years.  They enjoyed their many adventures in their RV as well as their leisure time just sitting in the gazebo and drinking sweet tea.  Susan fought a long battle from complications of Multiple Myeloma and liver disease.  She is at rest now with the Lord.  Many heartfelt thanks to the staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital where she spent over 135 days and to all the friends and relatives that supported during her last months.
