

Susie J. Cano, our beloved Mother, 89, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Alba, Texas on April 29, 1923 to Vicente and Paulita Ayala Jimenez. Susie was proud of her home that she resided in for over 55 years in the historical Second Ward district of Houston. Susie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Antonio M. Cano, her brothers Florencio, Rafael, Isaac, Alfredo, Alejandro, Gustavo Jimenez, and her sisters Manuela Ortiz, Juanita Saldana, Angelina Perez, Carlota Nieto, Anita Flores, Irene Marron, Sofia Jimenez, Lucy Lopez, and Sally Gonzales. She was the last surviving child of 16 children. Susie leaves behind her three loving children: Rose Mary Gonzalez and husband Jesse, Tony Cano and wife Mary, and Cynthia Flores and husband Bill; six Grandchildren: Louis Gonzalez, Gina De La Garza and husband Arthur, Jason Cano and wife Annette, Michelle Caballero and husband Frank, Nathan Cano, and Nicholas Cano; twelve Great-Grandchildren: Joshua Aranzeta, Lila Gonzalez, Christian De La Garza, Jacob De La Garza, Isabella De La Garza, Joshua Cano, Alayna Cano, Frankie Caballero, Michael Caballero, Mark Caballero, Fabian Cano, and Alexa Cano; one Great-Great Grandchild: Bella Caballero: Sisters-in-law: Josephina Jimenez and Theresa Gonzalez; Brother-in-law: Manuel Cano, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved very much. Although we will miss our Mother dearly, it brings us joy to know that she is once again reunited with our Dad, her parents, and brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire Methodist Hospital staff, especially Dr. Amy T. Mynderse and Tuscany Village Skilled Nursing in Pearland, TX for the excellent care and compassion given to their Mother.
