Sylvia Castellanos Narvaez was born on September 11, 1952, in Houston, Texas, to Javier Castellanos and Sara Molina Castellanos. She was raised in a large and loving family and was the first of nine siblings. She shared a special bond with her brothers, Enrique, Francisco, Vicente, Eduardo, and Daniel Castellanos, and her sisters, Blanca, Sara, and Debora.
Sylvia attended Jessie H. Jones High School, where she proudly participated in the school choir. It was during her youth that she met the love of her life, Severo Narvaez Jr. Together they built a family and were blessed with two children, Natalia Daria Narvaez and Nick Don Diego Narvaez.
Above all else, Sylvia was a devoted mother. Her children were the center of her world, and she loved them unconditionally. She was also a caring and nurturing sister who often took on a motherly role for her younger siblings. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her.
Sylvia had a beautiful spirit and a joyful heart. She loved singing and dancing and could light up any room with her warmth and laughter. A faithful, God-fearing woman, she knew her Bible well and lived her life guided by her faith. She shared a close and loving relationship with her children and spoke with them every day throughout their lives.
Nothing brought Sylvia greater joy than her family. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Austin Bui, Max Tran, Parker Tran, Hunter Tran, Nyla Narvaez, and Jayden Narvaez, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was also blessed with her great-grandson, Brooks Bui, whose presence brought her immense happiness and pride.
Sylvia is survived by her loving daughter, Natalia Narvaez, and her son, Nick Narvaez; her grandchildren, Austin Bui, Max Tran, Parker Tran, Hunter Tran, Nyla Narvaez, and Jayden Narvaez; her great-grandson, Brooks Bui; her siblings, Francisco Castellanos, Blanca Ester Castellanos Franklin, Sara Castellanos Silva, and Daniel Castellanos; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Javier Castellanos and Sara Molina Castellanos; her brothers Enrique, Vicente, and Eduardo Castellanos; and her sister Debora Ann Castellanos Hostetler.
While her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that Sylvia is now reunited with her loved ones in Heaven—singing, dancing, and rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
