Thomas M. Blake
February 19, 1924 – May 2, 2022

Thomas left behind many friends and family. He was born in Appleby, Texas a little over 98 years ago. He was the youngest child of 8 of Claytor and Frances Blake. He married on April 21, 1948 in Norwich, CT to Elizabeth (Bettie) Orline Lathrop Blake of Norwich, CT, whom he called Sweetie. He is survived by his 4 children; sons Thomas L. Blake, William R. Blake and wife Mona, Robert B. Blake and daughter Elizabeth C. Blake Salter and husband Dan; 6 granddaughters, 2 grandsons; 9 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters. Thomas was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy, specifically the submarine service. He was also a Mason for 76 years. He lived a good portion of his adult life in Liberty, Texas. He moved to and worked in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for 10 years, and retired afterwards to Houston, Texas. As a younger man he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a skilled carpenter and built the house in which his children grew up in Liberty, Texas. On weekends off from his regular work, he would build cabinets. He also loved music and played several instruments. He liked gardening and cooking, but his main love was Sweetie and his family.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A committal service will occur Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
