Vera M. Garza

Born on September 25, 1944, in Los Angeles CA, a daughter of the late Consuelo Leal Meave and Adolph Meave, she had lived in Houston since 1945. Vera graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1964, retired from MHMRA of Harris County in 2011 and married the late Gustavo Perez in January 1986. Larger than life, Vera was a very kind and gentle soul. She was uproariously funny and had a loving and generous heart; she was always doing for and giving to others – a modern day biblical Dorcas. She leaves many memories to be cherished by her adoring daughter and son-in-law, Jessica Garza Bateman and Clint Bateman; doting grandchildren: Adriana Alexandria Alvarez, Stephen Eric Alvarez and Joseph Anthony Alvarez; great grandchild: Michael Anthony Alvarez; her loving siblings and their spouses: Martha Meave, Cathy and Bernard Meave of Huffman TX, Rebecca Meave Cahill and John Cahill of Anadarko, OK, Diana Meave Villarreal and Ruben Villarreal, Linda and Adolph Thomas Meave of Azusa CA, Margo Meave, Connie and Jaime Meave, Donna and Mark Meave, Marie and Steve Meave. Vera has 29 nieces and nephews; numerous loving great and great, great nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call for visitation at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00a.m. in the Main Chapel with graveside service following.
