On March 16, 2024, a beautiful soul left this earth and gained her angelic wings to be with the Lord. Numerous family members and friends greeted her at the gates of heaven and welcomed her with open loving arms. She is no longer in pain, dancing like no one is watching, smiling from ear to ear and wearing that cute, little black dress she always wanted to wear for so many years.
On October 26, 1973, Veronica Guerrero was born in Houston, Texas to her doting mother Jeannette Botello. Veronica lived in Texas her whole life and would occasionally visit San Antonio where most of her family originated. Veronica was mostly reared by Mary (Honey Bunny) and Jesse Botello of Houston, Texas. She also had two younger sisters she loved, Griselda and Jessica.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Botello; grandfather, Jesse Botello and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Left to cherish her memory, husband, Cesar Gonzalez; her two daughters, Rebecca Guerrero and Amanda Gonzalez; her two sons, Cesar Gonzalez and Cristian Gonzalez; grandchildren, Jocelyyn, Ariyana, Jesse and newest grandson expected to be born this year in 2024; mother, Jeannette Botello and Manuel Cerda; two sisters, Griselda Guerrero and Jessica Hogan; along with many nieces and nephews.
As a young adolescent she attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Private School. She made many great friends in school and a best friend, much like a sister, Tiffany, with whom she still remained friends with to this very day. As a teen she attended Stephen F. Austin High School. Veronica didn't get the opportunity to complete high school because she was with child at a very young age. In 1989, she had to quickly put aside school to become an adult and very young Mom to her first born daughter, Rebecca Guerrero, aka "rusty butt." Rebecca (Becky) was her greatest joy in life. She loved being a mother. Motherhood suited her very well.
A few years later, Veronica met the love of her life, Cesar Gonzalez. Cesar was the new tenant in the garage apartment adjacent to her grandparents home. Their love affair was a story that brought a sparkle to her eyes and a squeal to her giggle. She always had a smile on her face whenever she spoke about Cesar, especially when she spent quality time with him on the couch at Honey's house. They both often wore matching outfits. Cesar immediately loved Becky and treated her as if she was his own child. On September 6, 1991, Veronica married Cesar and became Veronica Gonzalez. It was her dream to be married, have children and be on her own. Throughout the years they were married, they had three children, Amanda, Cesar, and Cristian. Veronica had always wanted a large family. Her kids were her life. Family was everything.
Veronica made an impact on so many people she encountered in her life. She had many friends that loved her and made new friends along the way wherever she went. Veronica had a very distinct, infectious laugh that carried in a room full of people. You always knew when she was present. Her sense of humor was silly and her quick wit was always spot on! If you had the pleasure of knowing Veronica, I can almost bet there was a funny story to be told. Veronica cared about everyone she knew and often checked on her friends and family throughout the day with good morning texts or family group chats.
For many years, Veronica struggled with her weight and always tried all the new fad diets out there to help her get in shape. She often joked, "Hey round is a shape!" She did find her passion in Zumba dancing to her heart's content. She made many new friends that enjoyed Zumba, as well as the diet shakes she drank often to help her lose weight. As Veronica grew older, she encountered a few health issues. She really tried her best to stay on track but often failed. Unfortunately, it also took a toll on her health which lead to her demise. She was taken away from us too soon. We are still in shock and in denial on her passing. Veronica loved everyone in her life. She loved her two dogs Bella and Lucky, her morning coffee, diet shakes, her daily good morning texts, inspiring Facebook posts, cooking new recipes, get-togethers with her closest friends, Zumba, dancing and singing all genres of music and enjoying the company of everyone she interacted with in her life. But most of all, Veronica loved her family dearly. She is greatly missed and has left a big hole in all of our hearts. WE LOVE YOU VERO! Life will never be the same without you.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all who donated their time, effort, fundraisers and donations to help make this possible to lay Veronica to rest. A public visitation for Veronica will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023. A graveside service will occur from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
